Scholarship Policies for Indian River County Schools

Criteria for Establishing Eligibility
Scholarships will be awarded to graduating senior women from either Vero Beach High School, Indian River Charter School, Sebastian River High School who have achieved 3.0 academic excellence, have demonstrated leadership potential in her community and have financial need. There shall be no barriers to full consideration for a scholarship based on race, creed, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability. Students who will be attending IRSC will not be eligible for this AAUW scholarship due to the availability of their Promise Program funding.The recipients will be determined by the Scholarship Committee of the Vero Beach branch of the American Association of University Women.
Administration of Scholarships

The number and amounts of scholarships will be recommended by the Scholarship Committee and approved by the Board of Directors of AAUW Vero Beach branch.

A letter of notification will be sent to each applicant by March 31, 2023.

Money for Scholarships is paid directly to the college of her choice upon the Committee’s receipt of a letter of acceptance, and proof of enrollment.

A certificate of award will be presented to each scholarship recipient at the scholarship awards night at the student’s high school. Your attendance is required.

The names of recipients will be announced publicly, unless otherwise specified. A short biographical memo including photo, and a release of information form signed by parent or guardian might be requested.

If in the opinion of the Scholarship Committee there is no suitable candidate, or if there are insufficient funds, no award will be given.
