Membership Eligibility

 

An individual holding an associate’s (or equivalent, e.g., RN), bachelor’s, or higher degree from a U.S. “Accredited Higher Education institution” or other qualified educational institution located outside the U.S., as determined by the AAUW Board of Directors, is eligible for AAUW membership. Membership is granted upon payment of AAUW dues.

 

In principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in this organization based on gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or class.

 

Types of individual memberships:

• Regular Membership: Renewable annually

• Life Membership

  • Paid: An individual member can become a Life Member upon a one-time payment of 20 years’ annual AAUW dues. Thereafter, they are exempt from payment of AAUW national dues.

  • 50-year Honorary:  An individual who has paid AAUW dues for 50 years shall become an Honorary Life Member and is thereafter exempt from payment of National, State (FL), & Vero Beach branch dues.

• Dual membership – i.e., in more than one branch/state.

 

2023-2024 Dues and Renewals

 

2023-2024 annual dues for new and renewing regular branch members are $114 (of which $94 is tax deductible):

• $72 for National membership ($69 tax deductible)

• $12 for Florida State membership

• $25 for Vero Beach Branch membership ($25 tax deductible)

• $ 5 for the Branch Handbook

The Shape the Future membership program offers a discounted rate to prospective members. With this campaign, new members pay just 50 percent of the National dues rate when they join AAUW at a public event. The payment must be made during the event, with either cash or check only – a credit card cannot be used.
