In an era of political and cultural polarization, how can we manage our social (and online) interactions in a positive way? Using an interactive approach, Dr. Lisa Langford will discuss the power of empathy in response to microaggressions, ways to navigate differences and conflict, communication in difficult situations, and the “art of listening.”

Dr. Langford is a Project Manager with the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, DC. With a remarkable 21-year tenure in the Navy/Naval Reserves, she embodies commitment and dedication to service. Her fervent dedication extends beyond her professional realm, as she actively engages in volunteering and mentoring young adults, nurturing future leaders. She holds a master’s degree from Pfeiffer University and a doctorate from the University of Phoenix.
Difficult conversations aren’t always planned — often they catch us by surprise, with an offhand comment: Do we respond or let it go? Dr. Langford’s discussion will offer ways to manage such situations, as well as how to deal with online and social media posts that raise our hackles.
