Our annual fundraiser this year was Her Majesty: Queen Elizabeth II, starring Sheryl Faye.
Queen Elizabeth II was a true icon, inspiring people around the world with her strength, courage, resilience, and dedication to a life of service. Her reign of 70 years and 214 days was the longest of any British monarch and the longest verified reign of any female head of state in history.
Actress Sheryl Faye brought this amazing woman to life, offering snippets of her life in ways that offer genuine insights into this regal woman.
In Sheryl’s multimedia presentation, Her Majesty, we first meet Elizabeth being coronated, then travel back in time to see her as a newborn, as a young sister, as a growing girl, as one who was not destined to the crown but became a queen anyway to do the abdication of her uncle, the crowning and then the death of her father. At 25, she inherited a Commonwealth! We were mesmerized by Sheryl’s acting and choreography, and loved the costumes, which she had created as replicas of Elizabeth’s own. We placed ourselves and our parents in history alongside Elizabeth’s timeline.
After the presentation, we hosted an elegant Royal Afternoon Tea—and of course, Her Majesty stopped by to chat!
Our fundraisers have but one goal: To raise money for us to give away as scholarships to hard-working, deserving women: Young women graduating from high school and going on to college, women graduating with associate or bachelor’s degree and proceeding to the next level, and stipends for women enrolled in an intensive, accelerated LPN program at Treasure Coast Technical College.
