Here’s an Opportunity! The Vice President for Programs position is Open, currently for a partial term of one year through June 2023.
This role is responsible to ensure that we present high-quality, informative events that run smoothly, are well attended, and provide enriching experiences for the attendees. Members of the Programs Committee are each (or with a partner) accountable for a particular Branch meeting event. Each event starts with an idea for a theme which is further developed and then implemented. That includes setting a date, securing a venue, identifying the speaker(s), and arranging for the food service. Communication of the event details and how to register is designed and sent via email, in our Hotline newsletter, on our website, and in local print media.
Book Review Breakfasts
The Book Review Breakfast Series is our most popular regularly scheduled event and held monthly from November through March. Leslie Carson and Jane Howard are co-coordinators of the series, both serving one-year terms through June 2023. They are responsible for suggesting the BRB theme for the year; contacting prospective speakers from the local community; working with them to determine the books they’ll review; and arranging for hospitality and communications for each event.
Hospitality at Events
At events like our Book Review Breakfasts, volunteers are needed to ensure that the food we serve is appealing and delicious. Tasks involve arranging for food delivery/pick up, setting up, helping to serve, and cleaning up. These volunteers make sure our events are attractive and enjoyable for our members and guests.
Photography at Events
It’s said that a picture is worth a thousand words and in 2022-2023, we’d like to document more of our events in photos! They’ll capture the energy, the camaraderie, and the fun that our programs can generate. If photography is your thing, let us know and we’ll put you on a list that the event /program planners can access if they need a volunteer to take photos during their event.
