Letter from our President

Don’t be afraid. Be focused. Be determined. Be hopeful. Be empowered.” --Michelle Obama

Dear Members,

On behalf of our Board of Directors and especially Linda Barker, Director of Development, we thank you for your support of our fundraisers, First Ladies and their Presidents, Senior Expo 2022 and Play the New Card! The First Ladies event was very successful, and we had a lot of fun! We are looking forward to those coming up.

I would like to thank Jane Howard and Leslie Carlson for five fascinating Book Review Breakfasts. I hope you were inspired to read some of the books presented, as I was.

The nominating committee has done an amazing job and I thank them for their work in selecting the nominees for next year’s AAUW Board. Please join us for the Annual Meeting on Saturday, April 30th (more information below) when the new Board of Directors will be elected and installed. One more reminder – Please renew your membership as soon as possible, so that no phone calls or mailings are required. You may renew online HERE

Thank you to all volunteers! Please know you are greatly appreciated.

I invite each of you to attend the presentation of the AAUW Equal Pay Proclamation by the Indian River County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, April 12th at 9:00 am. We will meet in the Commissioner’s Chambers to the right of entry into the building. As you know, we all wear something red in protest of women being in the red when it comes to equal pay. Let’s support our Public Policy Director, Crystal Morris, who will address the Commissioners on behalf of AAUW.

As we come to the end of this AAUW season, to those members traveling home, I wish you safe travels and stay well. As I come to the end of my term as President, I want to thank all of you for your support over the last three years. It has been my honor to serve as your President and I greatly appreciated the opportunity.

Happy Easter to you and your families! May it be full of blessings and joy for all!

Jonnie Mae Perry

President
