ABOUT THIS EVENT
“If women ran the world ...”
How many times have we said that? More importantly, though, what can we do to put more women in positions of influence?
Cynthia Falardeau, previously CEO of the Education Foundation of Indian River County and currently Regional Director of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) will give us insight into that question.
On Saturday, Oct. 15, Ms. Falardeau will provide an overview of the status of women on corporate boards, consider the effect of mandates, and nonprofit leadership as a path to opportunity. She will offer tips to chart a course via networking and mapping a strategy, and will point you to resources such as Women Corporate Directors, 50/50 Women on Boards, Extraordinary Women on Boards and the Women’s Business Collaborative and an informative article called The Magic Matrix by Dorlisa Flur.
Even if you’re not seeking a leadership role for yourself, you almost certainly know of young women among your family or acquaintances who would benefit from this information. Bring them along if you want, or just take notes on information to share with them. Many of us had little or no guidance in this area; let’s make sure the next generation doesn’t miss their chance to step into positions of leadership!
Ms. Falardeau is the Regional Director of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) https://www.nacdonline.org/, which is the recognized authority on boardroom practices. She supports the NACD Chapters throughout the Southeastern U.S. Previously, Ms. Falardeau was Senior Director of Membership at Women Corporate Directors Foundation, and before that, the CEO of the Education Foundation of Indian River County (JLIR). She was also active in the Junior League of Indian River County for many years and has just become President of the Sustaining Members for the JLIR.
